87-Year-Old Mugged On Bench Outside His House
Thursday 14th August 2014
An 87-year-old man was mugged for a gold chain as he sat on a bench outside his house in Brixton.
The man was attacked around 11am on Tuesday, 5th August as he sat on a bench near his house on Arlingford Road, Brixton.
The pensioner was approached by two men, one of whom grabbed a gold-chain around the man's neck, dragged him to the floor and punched the 87-year-old in the face several times. The muggers then ran towards Brockwell Park.
The attackers are described as two light-skinned black men in their late teens or early twenties.
Police have released pictures of the chain that was taken; a distinctive crucifix and anchor combination on a heavy gold chain. They believe it is likely that the muggers will try and sell the chain, and hope that its distinctive motif will make it easy to spot.
