Apply for a Help a London Child grant
Help a London Child aims to give opportunities to London’s children and young people who experience poverty and disadvantage; have/are experiencing abuse, neglect, homelessness, violence or crime; or who have an illness or disability.
In our first round of funding in 2010, £293,734 was shared by 139 charities and voluntary groups through our Small Grants programme, benefiting thousands of London’s less advantaged and most vulnerable children and young people. In 2009, over our two rounds of funding, £586,763 was awarded to 303 charities and voluntary groups.
When can you apply to Help a London Child in 2011?
The next application form is likely to be available in spring 2011 (provisionally late April).

Guidance on who can apply to Help a London Child
If your charity or voluntary group works with children and young people fitting into one or more of the categories in our funder statement above, then please do consider requesting funding in 2011. Please note that statutory organisations such as schools, local authorities and hospitals cannot apply to Help a London Child.
The projects Help a London Child funds include support groups for children and young people with a disability, special need or an illness; as well as a range of sports, music, drama & leisure activities; and youth clubs. Grants are also awarded to refuge & homelessness projects; holiday play schemes and residential breaks in the UK; cultural activities; supplementary schools; literacy programmes; and much more.
Application closing dates in 2011
There are normally two annual closing dates and groups are entitled to apply to Help a Capital Child once per calendar year. The 2011 dates have yet to be confirmed.
When applying for a grant, groups can request a maximum of £5,000. However, we do ask organisations to please be realistic in the amount they apply for; in 2010’s first round the average award was £2,113.
