Battersea Power Station Development to Begin

Friday 14th December 2012

The first phase of the Battersea Power Station redevelopment can start after developers were granted detailed planning permission.

Last week the Government announced it would support the extension of the Northern line to Battersea and now Wandsworth Council has approved the first stage of work on the iconic building.

The selling of residential units at the site has now been brought forward and will start on January 10 2013.

Rob Tincknell, Chief Executive Officer of Battersea Power Station Development Company, said they are "delighted" to have been give the go ahead to start.

“In the wake of last week’s announcement by the UK government to support the extension of the Northern Line underground line to Battersea and Nine Elms, we have seen a new rush of interest in the development from potential purchasers, he added. "It is incredibly exciting for us that we will be selling residential units off plan next month.”

More than 800 apartments will be built as part of phase one and building work to restore and regenerate the Power Station will begin.
