Best Places for a Valentine's date
London is one of the most romantic cities in the world, so if you live here you might as well make the most of it.
Check out our top ten bars and restaurants intended to make you and your loved one weak at the knees. We have tried our best, searched high and low to find you a few places a little out of the way and hidden to make them that extra bit special.
Chutney Mary, Fulham
Officially the most romantic restaurant in London, who claim that more people propose in their restaurant than anywhere else in the capital. An Indian restaurant with a touch of new romantic glamour, the food won't disappoint, as it comes highly recommended by the Good Curry Guide.
Champagne Bar at St Pancras, Fitzrovia
Nothing says romance like Champagne and here in the bustling train station you can sample a selection of delights. You don't have to book so it's fantastic if you are feeling spontaneous, or if you've just forgotten to book somewhere! For us there is also something quite romantic about train stations and the possibilities that they can produce.
Bar Chocolate, Soho
Chocolate is a sexy food, so naming a bar after it is insinuating something. This waitress service only bar serves refreshingly original cocktails on rustic wooden tables with low romantic lighting. It's a fantastic place to impress and will definitely be a stress free night out with their impeccable service.
Cocomo, Hoxton
Another cocktail heaven but this time in the funky area of Old Street. Without being to 'uber cool' this bar is small and cosy with velvet cushions and low coffee tables. It feels a little bit like you are in a Bedouin tent and is a little shabby but that adds to it's oozing charm.
Metro, Clapham Common
This Italian restaurant bar is a hit with all the locals and what sets it apart is its outside garden and canopy of fairy lights. With reasonably priced food and tentative staff this place is romantic through and through. They only thing that does hold it back is the size, we would like it a little bigger to give us more room to enjoy or evening. That said it still rates highly with us!
Galvin At Windows, Mayfair
If the ladies at LBC were going to be swept of their feet, they would loved to be swept in the direction of this restaurant. Designed by Keith Hobbs, this 1930s inspired space has a classic elegance that will impress even the harshest critics. Only for the big spenders a meal will cost about £70 a head.
Clos Maggiore, Covent Garden
Romance is most definitely not dead, it's live and well and dwelling in this fantastically subtle French restaurant. Impeccable service and a cosy low lit decor create a relaxing, loved up vibe that you may need for a special occasion.
Champor-Champor, Borough
The quirky design and decoration of this Malaysian restaurant give it a intense and intimate feel, perfect for a hot and steamy date. They have a perfect area for dates upstairs, so make sure you request this.
Gilgamesh, Chalk Farm
This restaurant bar is not just romantic but sexy too. Mouth watering Dim Sum and more. The cocktail list is extensive and unfortunately expensive, but for a special occasion we this it’s worth every penny.
Apsleys, Mayfair
Romance is done best by the Italians and this classy restaurant in The Lanesborough Hotel is no exception. Expect fresh tasting, expertly made dishes served by polite and discreet staff. The ceiling is glass and chandeliers gracefully decorate the ceiling.
The Jerusalem Tavern, Farringdon
If the idea of dinner out just doesn't interest you or your lover then try this cosy boozer. It has lots of little tables all clustered together, great beer and friendly staff. The low lighting and comfy decor make it really loved up.
