Budget Cuts
Getting a cheap hair cut in London is pretty simple. The city is scattered with hairdressers 'in-training' just desperate to get their newly purchased scissors slashing through your hair.
If taking the risk of receiving 1990s under cut doesn't enthral you and the idea of having to sit for over 4 hours while a shaky teenager waves their clippers near your face then we have some alternatives. Here are the best salons in town that own burn a hole in your wallet.
Hair By Fairy, Covent Garden
No appointments needed
If you need a haircut in a hurry, don't want to pay a lot and have high standards then Hair By Fairy is the place to pop in. They have excellent staff, who are highly trained, 'all very friendly and good at what they do' as Lion from Holloway puts it. Gentlemen can get a trim for £13 and they are open late most nights. It is worth taking note that they only take cash though.
Pierpoint Hairdressing, Soho
Best customer service
This salon is tucked away in Soho and can get lost in the hustle and bustle. They charge £35 for a ladies cut and blow dry and £25 for men’s as well as £15 for a buzz cut. With tasty teas and free wifi, you couldn't feel more at home having your hair snipped. This independent salon really spoils its clientele and as Lizzie from Soho puts it, 'it's all about customer service & they have it in bucket loads'.
Rough Cut, Angel
No fuss all cuts
We use Joseph from Canonbury's words to describe this cheaper version of Toni and Guy salon. 'I paid about £30 for a men’s haircut which I couldn’t imagine those GAP advert extras that Tony and Guy employ doing any better...Save your money and your bus fair - try Rough Cut once and you won't be disappointed.'
Brooks and Brooks, Holborn
Luxury without the price tag
You can get a basic cut with a junior stylist here for around £35 and for the cut, we definitely think it's worth it. On Wednesdays and Thursdays they are open until 8.30pm, so it's great for an after work trim. We love their blow drys, and the fact that the stylists actually listen to what you want even if you do forget to bring a picture in.
