Changes to Freeview HD
On Sunday 1st March, you were answering a question from a listener regarding changes to signals/frequency for getting HD, not quite sure what it was but I'm about to purchase a new full HD1080 TV and want to make sure that it will not become obsolete in a few months time. Could you clarify what you said on Sunday as I didn't take it all in properly.

Freeview is about to begin broadcasting a number of channels in HD. However, the Freeview boxes as well as the internal adapters in 'HD Ready' flatscreen TV's will not be able to receive these signals.
'HD Ready' and 'Full HD' means the set is capable of showing HD TV if you have the appropriate equipment. To do so on Freeview, you will have to buy a new Freeview box or a new TV with the appropriate new receiver. More information is available here.
This doesn't however affect Sky or Virgin customers. I hope that helps.
