Clegg: We Won't Be Reckless With NHS
Tuesday 5th April 2011
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has been telling LBC the coalition will not 'recklessly' press ahead with NHS reforms.
The cross party Commons Health select committee has recommnded significant changes be made to the plans - including allowing all health specialists- not just GPS - to commission services.
On Monday, the Health Secretary announced there'd be more consultation, after fierce opposition from some MPs and unions. Mr Clegg has told Nick they will listen to all parties.
The deputy Prime Minister was speaking to LBC as he launched the government's social mobility strategy - helping to get the most disadvantaged youngsters into better jobs and universities.
