Congestion Charge To Increase From Next Month
Wednesday 28th May 2014
TfL has confirmed the congestion charge is going to go up from £10 to £11.50 next month.
It's the first time since 2011 the charge has increased.
TfL says it's making the change to keep deterring people from driving into central London.
It's promising the charge will create £82.7m over the next five years to be re-invested into London’s transport network, including the city's roads.
Since the Congestion Charge was introduced in 2003, TfL claims more than £1.2 billion of revenue has been re-invested in transport.
Garrett Emmerson, TfL’s Chief Operating Officer for Surface Transport, said: “These changes will ensure the Congestion Charge remains effective in managing congestion in central London.
The change will come in on June 16th.
