Could An Animal Hair Accidently Implant In A Human?

Question:

A friend said a hair from his dog had got implanted in his arm and continued to grow - is that possible? Could a hair from somewhere else somehow get stuck in your skin and carry on growing?

There is no way a hair can fall out of something else and implant and start growing again. The hair needs an organ to grow in - a hair follicle. Even if it lands in a pore it will be dead - not connected to the 'mainframe' which provides the blood etc. You can get hair transplants but you need the tissue with the blood as part of that transplant.
