Could You Combine A Human and a Goat?

Question:

Can an animal procreate with another animal of another species? In a laboratory could you combine a human and a goat for example?
Nick, Edgware

Answer:

Name: Sally, Redhill
Qualification: Science teacher
Answer: different species can't sucessfully produce young due to have different numbers of chromosomes - you need the exact same number in each parent as they need to match up. Lions and tigers are so similar they have the same number of chromosomes as they are both felines - so you can get Lygers. But you couldn't cross a human and a goat as their chromosomes wouldn't pair up.
