Does Pupil Shape Affect Vision?

Question

Some animals - like my cats - have different shaped pupils. Does this make their vision different?
Alan, Canary Wharf

Answer

**Definitive**
Name: Jamie, Fulham
Qualification: Used to be a wildllife photographer studying big cats
The shape changes because cats can alter their peripheral vision. They can change their vision on a horizontal and vertical axis - depending on the environment they are in. So the different shape affects what they see.
