Does the Queen have a passport?

Question

Does the Queen have a passport when she travels around the world?
Andy, Southwark

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Martin Lloyd, Canterbury
Qualification: Author of a book called The Passport
Answer: The Queen doesn’t hold a passport, as passports are held in her name. International protocol decrees that the heads of state would recognise each other without credentials, so they don’t need it. Every other member of the Royal family has a passport. With the old blue UK passports, while yours said “Subject, United Kingdom and its colonies”, Prince Charles’ passport said “Prince of the Royal House”.
