Educating Is Back

Educating the East End starts Thursday 4th September at 9pm

Educating is back! From playground hijinks and inspirational lessons to life-changing friendships and events, see them all in the new schoolroom documentary from Channel 4....and get the inside track on the new series by listening to headteacher Jenny Smith in conversation with LBC's Larry Lamb.

Filmed at Frederick Bremer School in Walthamstow, East London, Educating the East End follows the work of Head Teacher Jenny Smith, as she brings her vision and drive to lift the academic achievements at the school as well as the ambition of her students.

Assisted by a stellar team of teachers and support staff, Ms Smith is on a mission to inspire the kids to aim higher, achieve their full potential and overcome the stereotype of a ‘hoodied’ London teen. From Year 7 to Year 11, from newly qualified teachers to old-hands, this eight-part observational documentary series shows what it is like to learn and teach in a hugely diverse school in the capital city.

From the makers of Educating Yorkshire the new series in the East End is told with heart, honesty and humour and celebrates the universally-identifiable themes of adolescence and those pivotal pupil-teacher relationships that shape everyone’s teenage years.

Episode 1 introduces new Head Teacher Jenny Smith, her staff and some lively kids. The school's newest teacher, Mr Bispham, soon learns that teaching isn't always plain sailing, especially when it comes to educating Year 9 girls.
