Education Workers March Through London

Education workers are marching through London in protest at Government cuts in Camden and Tower Hamlets.

The NUT is concerned that the cuts will close two Children's Centres in Camden, and lead to nearly 200 jobs going in Children's Services in Tower Hamlets.

They also argue it will lead to reduced provision for children with special educational needs.

Andrew Baisley, the Camden NUT branch secretary, has labelled the cuts "unjust".

He told LBC "our children are the very last people you could possible hold responsible" for the economic crisis and thinks it is unfair they should "pay the price for it".

Thousands of pupils are missing school because of the strike.

It is thought more than 100 schools are fully or partially closed.
