Failed Apple Store Smash-And-Grab On Regent St
Tuesday 18th June 2013
Two men have been arrested following a failed smash-and-grab raid on the Apple Store on Regent Street.
Eyewitnesses reported that five suspects on three scooters used an axe to smash a hole in the toughened glass windows of the flagship store just after 1am this morning.
They fled empty-handed after being disturbed by the store's security guards and the Metropolitan Police utilised their helicopter to track the gang to a house in Tufnell Park where two of them were arrested.
Earlier this morning, the Met Police tweeted about their helicopter, referring to helicopter India 99: "Apologies to anyone disturbed in the Tufnell Park area... i99 is involved in pursuing a moped with 2 males allegedly involved in smash and grab offences with weapons.
"We have tracked them to an address and they are now under arrest. We are leaving now."
The Met Police confirmed that two men, aged 18 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and dangerous driving.
