Family Welcomes Met Action

The family of Ian Tomlinson have welcomed a decision by the MET Police to begin disciplinary proceedings against the officer who hit him at the G20 protests in the city.

PC Simon Harwood will have to answer allegations of gross misconduct after an investigation into Mr Tomlinson's death and his family now want those proceedings to be held in public.

It follows a decision by the Crown Prosecution Service that PC Harwood should not face criminal charges over the incident.
