Four Arrests Following Dorchester Hotel Smash-And-Grab
Friday 11th July 2014
Four people have been arrested after the smash and grab at one of London's top five star hotels in the early hours of Thursday.
Police say they have recovered nearly all the jewellery and watches stolen from the Dorchester in Mayfair.
Six men riding three mopeds sped up to the hotel at 2.20am and smashed their way through the front door. Once inside, they smashed display cabinets and stole a number of items.
Met police say that around 2.30pm yesterday three men, aged 23, 27 and 66, and a 46 year old woman were arrested at an address in the Kings Cross area.
The 23 year old was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to handle stolen goods, whilst the other three were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to handle stolen goods.
All four were taken to a central London police station where they remain in custody.
Detectives believe that they have recovered the vast majority of the items stolen. Also seized were three mopeds which they are trying to establish if they were the vehicles used in the robbery.
Detectives say they are looking for at least five more suspects.
Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
It was the second time in the space of a month the hotel had been the target of a smash and grab.
