As global cat lovers celebrated World Cat Day, news broke that Chancellor George Osborne’s cat, Freya, had to be taken to the vet last night after being hit by a car outside of Downing Street.

A Downing Street spokeswoman said Freya was recovering and due to return home to number 11 soon following the accident in Whitehall.

It is understood that Freya was “clipped” by a vehicle but it is unclear who was involved in the incident.

Freya has been a part of Osborne family since 2009 and has earned herself a reputation for wandering off.

This is not the first time Freya Osborne has gotten into trouble after leaving home alone. In May, Freya travelled from Downing Street to Vauxhall (1.5 miles) where she met and spent the evening with a homelessness outreach worker.
