Harman: Farage Comments 'Xenophobic'

Monday 19th May 2014

Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Harriet Harman told LBC she believes Nigel Farage's recent comments are ' xenophobic', rather than racist.

She told Iain Dale she defines xenophobic as "a generalised dislike of people from other countries."

"The truth is, it does legitimise racist views and give racists' a spring in their step. It's the easiest thing to divide everybody from each other."

She added "It does have an impact because it makes people feel divided. Look at other countries - it ends up in a nasty situation."

Today Nigel Farage placed an advert in The Telegraph defending comments he made to James O'Brien on LBC.
