HIV Case Brings Call For Porn Production Ban

Friday, 29th August 2014 13:39

An advocacy group for the adult film industry in California has called for a temporary halt to productions across the industry after a performer tested positive for HIV.

Diane Duke, CEO of the Free Speech Coalition, said the performer is undergoing further tests to confirm the diagnosis, but is calling for the ban as a precaution.

These moratoriums are not binding, but generally the industry complies.

The group has not released the name or any details about the person involved.

It is the industry's first case of HIV this year, after three in 2013.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation called it a "tragic" repeat of last year's cases, and added it underscores the need for statewide action in California.

The group successfully fought to require condoms for porn actors in Los Angeles city and county.
