The ban on legal highs came into force overnight - in these videos a former addict and a drugs unit volunteer explain just how dangerous they can be.

Simon Dudley, a former legal highs addict, gives a stark take on the impact the drugs can have on users' lives.

“I had all the water draining out of my body, because I was sweating all the time. I was shaky, nervous.”

“It was like hell, it was like having my brain pulled apart.”

Olly Harland is a volunteer at SUIT in Wolverhampton and he explains what it's like to try to help people addicted to legal highs. He said it will do little limit supply. 

“It will go underground, and it will probably cost twice as much or three times as much,” he said.
