How do iPhone touchscreens work?

Question

How does the touchscreen on my iPhone work? It works even with a plastic cover over it.
James, Poole

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Sat, Dartford
Qualification: Heard it on TV
Answer: The human body creates and electrical impulse. There is a circuit just under the screen and when you touch it, it completes that current and works. That's why you can't get touchscreens to work when you're wearing gloves.
