How do penny farthings stop at traffic lights?
Question
I saw a man riding a Penny Farthing yesterday. If they came to a set of traffic lights, how do they balance themselves before moving again, if they can’t reach the ground?
Stuart, Oxford Street
Answer
** Definitive **
Name: David, M25
Qualification: I’ve ridden one!
Answer: It’s a bit like a unicycle. The front wheel is fixed, so the rider can use it to go in reverse as well. So they would most likely go backwards and forwards in perpetual motion. Or you lean against a lamppost!
