I was watching Discovery Channel and they were fishing for tuna, which were huge – the size of a sheep. So how many tins of tuna can you get from one tuna fish?

Answer: The northern blue-fin tuna, which are the giant ones, are exported to Japan and sold to the highest bidder, so these are not put into tins. From the smaller yellowtail or skipjack tuna, on average you could get around 15-20 tins of tuna.
