How quickly could a virus kill everyone?

How long would it take an airborne virus to wipe out everyone on the planet?
Lee, Dartford

Name: Mike, Winchmore Hill
Qualification: Naysayer
Answer: It’s impossible to answer. Firstly, it depends on the infection rate, whether it’s 100%. It depends on the incubation period.  And it depends on population density. If the incubation period is two years, there will be a two-year delay on everything.
(James O’Brien: I can’t give you a round of applause as you haven't answered the question. You’ve just told me why you can’t answer it!)
