Chisora, a man of few words and big actions

I spoke to the British Heavyweight to ask him why he slapped Vitali Klitschko at the weigh-in
Dereck Chisora. Interesting character.  This evening (Saturday), he’s fighting in Germany against the WBC heavyweight champion Vitaly Klitchko.  He hasn’t got anywhere near the amount of publicity David Haye got before his fight with Vitaly’s younger brother Vladimir for the other heavyweight titles.  And today I found out why.

Not only is the fight being broadcast on a fairly obscure pay per view network run by his own promoters. He’s also not very interested in pre fight publicity. When we tried to interview him we tried to record it before the programme went out at the request of his management, but when I told him it was not live, he put the phone down on me. (We rang his management who sorted it out and in the end we did pre-record it)

He’s also not expected to have any chance of winning, especially since; at the weigh in he went head to head with the massive Ukrainian and then slapped him in the face because of all the disrespect he had been shown he told me. He also said the Kitsch camp had racially abused him, but to his credit he didn’t want to make an issue of that. In fact, I got the impression he would have liked the fight to take place there and then in his hotel room, so revved up was he. I hope I’m wrong, and you may be reading this after we have a British world heavyweight champion….but I fear for Derek. I think his lack of fear and respect may be his downfall. I rarely make predictions, but I can’t see the fight going more than five rounds, and I didn’t see the title changing hands. Hope I’m very wrong, and if I am, I will be fulsome in my praise and admiration on next week’s show.

And speaking of boxing, we heard from promoter Mick Hennessey about a famous sporting son who could even be better than his dad according to Mick Hennessy. This is the son of Chris Eubank who is fighting on Channel five later tonight. If he’s as good as Mick says, we’re going to be hearing a great deal about him.

Did I really write a blog without mentioning football, you’ll know the scores are you’re watching this? Well one emailer won’t who has written to complain about Scores……because he hates it. But today he withdrew his complaint because it allows him to listen to music on XFM. Well we’re all the same company and if you like music, is LBC the right station in the first place. Just a thought. lol, as the kids would say. I’m so streeeeeeeet !

Payney. See you next week.
