INQ Cloud Touch: Harnessing the Facebook Phenomenon

Aimed at social networking junkies this smart phone comes with an affordable price tag.

INQ Cloud TouchIn a crowded market place, companies are always looking for a new PR stunt to get their product noticed. With dozens of new mobile phones launched every year, it takes something different to get reviewers' attention.

So to launch their exclusive INQ Cloud Touch phone, The Carphone Warehouse staged a concert with the sensational Eliza Doolittle singing her latest hits for fans to watch via Facebook.

The connection? Well the phone is aimed directly at Facebook addicts. There’s a dedicated app imbedded into the smartphone that streams a live feed from users’ Facebook account to the home screen, while the simple ‘one-touch’ links to Chat, Friends, Messages, Wall and Notifications give customers a direct click-through to friends’ updates, pictures, videos and webpages. The INQ Cloud Touch also uses the Facebook social graph API, which enables users to follow updates from the friends they interact with most.

You can also follow your favourite sites including www.facebook.com/LBC973 which updates throughout the day with the latest news.

Using the Android operating system (Froyo 2.2) it also has all the other features you’d expect, including the marketplace with around 150,000 apps including the fantastic LBC offering and, of course, Angry Birds.

So who is it aimed at? With a price point of a free handset with a £15.50 a month contract or £119 on PAYG, it's ideal for Facebook and Social networking junkies who don’t want to splash out £500+ for the latest smartphone from HTC or Apple device.
