Hurricane Bertha could be set to hit the UK this weekend.

The storm - now downgraded to a Tropical Storm - is growing in size as it makes its way across the Atlantic Ocean. Winds of up to 73mph are expected to hit Ireland on Saturday night.

Is The UK About To Be Hit By A Hurricane?

LBC spoke to forecaster Gemma Plumb from Meteo to find out.

"We could see some heavy and persistent rain, wrapped up in this system.

"It did reach hurricane-level over the last few days, but has now been downgraded.

"It hit some islands in the Caribbean, giving them strong winds and heavy rain. It was a category 1 hurricane then, but it has now been downgraded to a tropical storm.

When Will Hurricane Bertha Reach The UK?

 "At the moment, there is some uncertainty of the exact track of ex-Hurricane Bertha by the time it reaches us.

"At the moment, it's looking as though we will see some effect of it from the weekend and into Sunday.
