It never ends. MP’s and their expenses continue to dominate the headlines. And in fact it’s an embarrassment. I have moved from surprise, to disgust to despair. Why can these people not only admit where they got it wrong but also what they need to do to fix the problem? Keeping details secret and coming up with complicated new roles is NOT the way forward. A simple allowance and be done with it. No claims, no special privileges and just keep it simple. The only problem is that because government spends so much money and employs so many people the scale of waste is huge. Thing is MP’s are supposed to be looking over our nation’s finances, health, defence and education – and if they can’t be trusted to do the right thing how can they make the right decisions for us?!
James Hartigan said Transformers 2 was rubbish and that The Class is worth getting on DVD and Sky Movies has Mamma Mia on this week. Hurrah! And I asked you what would you swap? Best one is perhaps to have “The Bill” theme tune for the police instead of the normal “nee nahhh”! Great idea it would cheer us all up!
Gordon Brown has done an interview with The Guardian. The work of his new spin doctor or a new sincere and softer Gordon? The former I think – the revelations don’t do anything for me. I think he has made too many mistakes and hasn’t led well. It’s not that everything he has done has been wrong – far from it – I simply think we need a fresh leader to draw a line in the sand after the MP’s and their expenses, the economic downturn and someone who can invigorate politics in this country.
Anyway I’m back tomorrow and in for James Whale from Tuesday to Friday next week! Cheerio for now.
