Olympic legacy for the East London property market

Why are you buying and what do you want from the property?

Justin Urquhart Stewart from Seven Investment Management joined me. He’s not that encouraged by the economic messages from the problems encountered by the PIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain). All those economies are suffering and have affected the markets. Justin thinks the FTSE will rise at the beginning of this week but figures out during the course could spell for another choppy ride. Investing is a perilous business and it’s all about protecting your investments as well as making money. Certainly Justin has some fine investment tips for you on how to research the market, the sorts of personal strategy you might adopt and some good pointers to think about. www.7im.co.uk

We also talked about the legacy of the Olympics for the East London property market. Dr Penny Burnstock a housing expert from the University of East London gave us some input into how regeneration works, the opportunities that might have been lost from the Olympics and whether we are merely transforming places rather than regenerating. Phil Tennant, Regional Sales Director from Hamptons also joined us to talk about the markets and whether you should be buying, selling renting or indeed investing. His views are that once again it’s longer term and actually what you want to do with the property and are you borrowing to invest or are you investing with your money? Perhaps you want to live in the property and often that’s what you need to think about. Why are you buying and what do you want from the property?
