In for Steve Allen ....

A nice early start!

Good morning!

Sitting in for Steve Allen who has lost his voice, we wish him a speedy recovery. From politicians, to health service chiefs, police, bankers, footballers and a golfer; everyone is apologising. Yet no one who is actually responsible for financial or even life threatening mistakes is held responsible. Why are we accepting apologies when we should be taking action? And that's the problem. With the NHS trust in Stafford in the spotlight for a range of systemic failures, apologies have been forthcoming. Yet no management have been charged or found to be responsible yet "lessons will be learnt". Personally I think it's about time that we had more of a connection between responsible people and jobs and the amount they are paid and rewarded.

And George Osborne wants cuts now. He says it will be dangerous if we don't. Yet Gordon Brown says expenditure must continue to avoid another economic dip. It's just the waste that I find unacceptable. A failure in the NHS and education, despite massive expenditure is prevalent. I don't care for the political rhetoric; I just want money spent effectively on the services we want so that we can trust them.

The Falklands are back in the news, because we are drilling for oil! You seem to want to keep them British. The Argentineans want them back, despite never having lived on them. Worth saving? I think so especially having 255 lives lost when we went to war in the Early 80's.

On a lighter note you sent loads of texts about things you miss. Apparently milk cartons are out and bags are in. Oh dear.

I am back with you this afternoon with your Business Updates with James Whale.
