Still in Steve's shoes....

And they're a bit tight!

Steve Allen still has not got his voice back… so I joined you for Friday's Early Breakfast.  A vast amount of money has been spent on a year long report about the sexualisation of children. It probably cost a lot of money and whilst it's a serious argument, I think it has come out with some weak conclusions. Why impose all sorts of censorship on TV and billboards when the internet is free? You simply cannot legislate in this way anymore. It isn't to say that there should be a free-for-all without any room for taste and decency, but most of the problems exist when parents leave children to their own devices. Should any programmes be banned from telly? What about Music videos on later after the watershed? Is the watershed relevant any more anyway? I'm not sure. I think it is an opportunity for moral crusaders to go off on one. Waste of time, waste of money.

You talked about your secret indulgences and also told me whether or not you would buy an electric car. Personally I think the politicians are talking before the technology has caught up with their rhetoric. And I have one. The tax advantages are great. But as a piece of technology they really have a long way to go. The range isn't good, the amount of time to recharge and the safety of these things; seriously dreadful. For little trips around the city they are fine - but it just means I need an extra car rather than replacing my petrol car. And that's why the whole thing is a bit pointless. After all once we all go electric, all the tax advantages will go.
