Police resources on shooting

Also Britain is best at...

The census is going after 200 years. At £482 million to undertake when all of the information is probably available already – it seems like an easy way to save money. Though why are they not changing next year’s census to slim line it and save money straight away?!

Inevitably the activities in Northumberland are both tragic and concerning. The police acted and although the conclusion of events has left the gunman dead as I watched events unfold, it struck me that too many resources were applied and that much of the news coverage was fatuous, vacuous and speculative. When compared to what happens in our city, it strikes me as odd. Perhaps we are simply numbed to crime and violence here? With crime running at such a level in London, I’d like to see more police on our streets and a better application of resources to remove the gangs, guns and knives. The media coverage surely increased the reaction by the Police at huge cost to the nation at a time when we can least afford it.

You gave some brilliant advice on what the British are best at (complaining mostly) and how to keep cool (placing a wet salmon down your shorts) which brightened up our morning!

I’m back tomorrow from 4pm
