London Ambulance Service dealing with drunks

Also no place for compassion?

For the last time this week, I was in for James Whale. Normal service resumes next week.

It turned into a theme of the day today… that politicians are out of step with you. I am simply exasperated by their lack of action on dealing with alcohol and the abuse of free NHS treatment. Why have we done nothing to tackle cheap alcohol in out supermarkets combined with one of your ideas to adopt the Australian rules on fining landlords heavily if they serve alcohol to someone who is overly intoxicated… Anyway, it’s a mess and an abuse of our health service.

We looked at the release of the Lockerbie bomber a year on. Most of you seem to think there is no place for compassion against those who commit atrocities of this kind. Why punishments and sentences that you feel comfortable with cannot be applied, I don’t know.

And then onto banks. I do understand the ranting against banks and bankers yet it’s misplaced. Government has done little or nothing to help you out or to improve regulation post-crunch. High street banks are overcharging and over profiting from their activities and the government has done nothing to step in. I don’t think it’s acceptable.

And I was pleased to see eccentricity continues in the UK. The road sweeper who does a thought of the day on the promenade. Today he said “The Power of Optimism” – and with that I shall bid you farewell… until tomorrow morning! I’m back for Saturday Breakfast from 7am
