So farewell then, Corey Haim, star of one of the finest films of my youth and poster boy for my generation. Strange to reflect that he did little else and yet remained of enduring fascination for most of his short life. A pop song even asked what had happened to him while his later life was the focus of a reality TV show with his mate and namesake Corey Feldman. Is there any former child star that has gone on to enjoy a secure and successful adulthood? And if not why are the X Factor & Britain’s Got Talent auditions full of kids whose parents are apparently desperate for them to pursue a career in showbiz? Let’s just hope little Stavros Flately can keep his wits about him.
