You can’t do this job successfully without attracting some criticism. Even broadcasters who are not in the business of offering robust opinions on the subjects under discussion will fail to please all of the people all of the time. Sometimes it’s frustrating, I grant you, but mostly it goes with the territory. Today, though, a couple of people got in touch to find fault with my discussion about the Iraq invasion. Specifically, to claim that I had unfairly imposed my own opinion on callers articulating their reasons for finding the invasion wrong. Oddly, with the benefit of 20:20 hindsight, I categorically consider the invasion of Iraq in 2003 to have been unjustifiable and disastrous! It is remarkable how unable some people are to hear anything other than they want to hear, regardless of what’s actually being said!
