Kevin Maguire in for Andrew Pierce

Should we be rewarding have a go heroes and will Brown survive until the election?

Another tragic case has come to light in London. Sukwhinder Singh decided to help out a lady who had been mugged and unfortunately, it ended in him being stabbed to death. So many of us witness trouble on the streets but how many of us decide to stop and help? It seemed that many of you would consider helping but the reasons that you wouldn't are concern for your own safety and also because you thought you might get in trouble for helping. Perhaps the law on what is and isn't allowed in self defence shuold be clarified, especially with regards to "reasonable force."

I spoke to two London MP's today about Gordon Brown's chances in the election this year. Dianne Abbot believes that the coup was a storm in a tea cup, and I have to agree! It was a massive failure, and now I think the weaknesses in the Labour party have really been exposed. I also spoke to Conservative MP Greg Hands about how the Conservatives are going to capitalise on this shambles of a week for Labour.

Finally, I'd like to pay my condolences to Sunday Mirror's Defence Correspondent Rupert Hamer, the first British journalist to be killed in Afghanistan. He was a fine journalist and will be sorely missed.

Andrew will be back with you next week.

Kevin
