Gordon Brown's last-minute conversion to voting reform - he advocated a referendum in the next election - smacks of cynicism. The last time Labour embraced it was before the 1997 general election but after winning by a landslide. Even if she had to be found guilty, was a recommendation from the judge that she serves nine years not just a little excessive? What do rapists get? Is she a threat to anyone? Of course she isn't.
And just who do we blame for the 90-minute attacks on two boys by an 11 year-old and a 10 year-old, should we pity the perpetrators? Do we put them before the victims and should they be identified? Should they be given custodial sentences? And why aren't their parents in the dock.
And as the cost of weight loss operations soars for the cash strapped NHS should we make smokers, drinkers and the obese pay for their own treatment. We can find money for gastric bands but none to help the sufferers of Alzheimer's disease; have we got our priorities all wrong says a smug 10.5 stone Andrew Pierce!!!

Andrew.
