Lib Dem Conference Cancelled Over Student Protest Fears
A school in North London has cancelled its agreement to host a Liberal Democrat conference tomorrow because of the threat of student protests.
The Headteacher of Havistock school in Hampstead says the risks were too great.
Demonstrators had pledged to target the event as part of anger over plans to increase the amount universities would be able to charge in tuition fees.
One of the Liberal Democrats election pledges was that it would oppose the rises - which the coalition is supporting.
Recent demonstrations in the capital have led to violence - with the first protest outside the Conservative Party headquarters leading to the building in Millbank being broken into and vandalised by some of those involved.
The regional conference is now being postponed until February.
