Father Of UK's Youngest Mum Says He's Proud Of Her
Wednesday 16th April 2014
The father of the girl dubbed "Britain's youngest mum" called LBC to defend his daughter.
The girl gave birth to a baby last weekend, aged 12, having conceived while still in Primary School.
The couple were featured on the front page of The Sun today and this led "Greg" to call Nick Ferrari At Breakfast to say he was proud of his daughter.
Using a false name to protect his daughter's anonymity, the north London man told LBC he was supporting his daughter. He said: "Shame doesn't come into it. We're so proud of her.
"She's only my little girl, whether she's done that or not. There are lots of routes kids this age can take. Lots of kids are on drugs. She brought something beautiful into the world and we're all proud of her.
"We only found out she was pregnant a month ago. I cried. You break down with emotion. She was eight months gone. I broke down. What can you say?
"Sorry was one of the words said.
"She was eight months pregnant. The baby is going to come into the world no matter what. You can just be supportive about it.
"The families on both sides are going to be very supportive about it."
Greg admitted that he was heartbroken by the situation, insisting that he did not know his daughter was sexually active, aged 11. He said: "It is heartbreaking, but you can't turn back time. You can only go forwards.
"We don't know where it happened. What you're implying is that we knew they were having intercourse in bedrooms. No.
"We cannot keep her wrapped up her whole life. I can't keep a watch on her 24-hours a day, seven days a week. You don't know what has gone on and once the mistake has been made, you just have to support them."
In the exclusive interview with LBC, Greg said the 13-year-old father of the baby was a 'lovely kid' and said the couple plan to stay together.
