London's best organic restaurants
It's not difficult to get organic food in London now. Restaurants claiming to be organic are popping up on a weekly basis. But how do you pick out the ones that are sourcing the top ingredients at the best value? LBC picks our favourite organic restaurants.
Konstam at the Prince Albert, King's Cross
Owned by Oliver Rowe, this ethical restaurant aims to source as much of its ingredients from within the tube network - including seafood, duck and wine! LBC listener Ross B said of it: "While I think it's dropped it's 100% of produce from inside London tag to about 80%, it's still a decent thing to be able to claim. And it turns out that London has a pretty decent larder."
The Duke Of Cambridge, Islington
Named London Dining Pub of the Year recently, the Duke of Cambridge is the UK's only gastropub to be certified by the Soil Association, serving organic food, locally sourced where available. Listener Tom O is certainly a big fan: "My Rabbit on the bone stew totally rocked! With the liver still rolling around in the sauce I was more than happy. My partners beef (the little I managed to wrangle off her) was exciting, reassuring and good value."
Mildred's, Soho
A vegetarian website in the heart of Soho, Mildred's has been serving original, organic vegetarian food for over 20 years. Clive J said: "The continuing popularity and friendly vibe of this wonderful vegetarian restaurant bears testament to the quality of the food and the company."
Manna, Primrose Hill
Claiming to be Europe’s finest and oldest gourmet vegetarian restaurant (40 years and still going strong), Manna creates veggie food from all over the globe. Veronica O says of it: "Delicious restaurant for vegan people (or not), especially good for Saturday or Sunday brunch when you can grab a table outside or in the conservatory."
