London's top seafood restaurants

London, unlike other non-sea-port cities, has a wealth of high quality seafood restaurants. Their produce is fresh and the dishes distinctive; if anything we are a little spoilt for choice.

If you can get a table J Sheekey's in Covent Garden is an all time favourite. Described as 'a jewel of the London’s gastronomic setting' by Suzy G, she then goes on to say, 'It's a beautiful restaurant that consists in four large and elegant room covering with wood. The seafood is absolutely delicious and fresh. The dishes are simple but very good.' But Suzy isn't the only fan, Rob M adds 'If I could afford to eat at Sheekey's every week (and could get a table), I would.'
It can be pricey and hard to book in the evenings but for a special occasion is it well worth it.

If you want the freshest of the ocean served on a plate, seasonal selection are available at Zilli's Fish in Soho. 'Scallops, monkfish, crab - whatever's available will make an appearance on the menu,' explains Elena P who rates this restaurant five stars. Clare C adds that 'The fish is fresh from the sea that day via Billingsgate market and you have to tell them how you like it cooked.' Zilli's Fish is also a fantastic looking restaurant, with large open layout and big glass windows that flood light into the venue.

For more of a party atmosphere with your catch of the day Randall and Aubin is another Soho establishment famous for its seafood dishes. Joel says, 'the fish counter at the front just draws you in as it looks so fresh and then when you’re inside the informal seating and good food really delivers.' We couldn't agree with this more, the informal setting takes the 'snootiness' away from a traditional seafood restaurant and give the place a positively relaxed vibe.

Hidden away in Archway is another favourite The Lighthouse, 'Despite its surroundings, on entering you feel like you are on holiday. Incredibly fresh fish and near perfect mussels' as Sophie assures us. Lisa S also enjoys this local independently run restaurant that goes that extra mile due to 'Freshest fish, excellent friendly service and complimentary bread and olives and soup starter, which is a lovely touch.'

For a budget menu that doesn't scrimp on the quality Fish Central Restaurant in Barbican ticks every box. Seafood fan Suzy G loves this place because of this; 'Freshest fish, excellent friendly service and complimentary bread and olives and soup starter, which is a lovely touch.'

This was just a small selection of the best seafood in London. You can find a further selection of favourites on welovelocal.com.
