London's Top Summer Cocktail Bars

cocktails portIt’s summer time, it’s (occasionally) sunny outside, what better way to cool yourself down than with a sublimely mixed cocktail? Like finding the best ingredients for a great Mohito, we’ve scoured London to find you the best places for a great night out. Some are a little different, some are classic cocktail bars, but all will help you ease into a balmy evening with an expertly crafted cocktail.

Cuba Libre , Islington
Granted, Upper Street isn’t the first place you’d look to unwind with a well-mixed beverage, but we think Cuba Libre has something a touch special. It’s small and a little rough around the edges, but the atmosphere is great. The bar staff know how to throw a drink together and they’re not afraid to give them a bit of a kick either. Katie from Camden gives it the thumbs up: “There is no better way to spend an evening than making your way through the extensive cocktail list at Cuba Libre”. We couldn’t agree more.

The Cinnamon Club, Westminster
Appearances can be deceiving, and none more so than at The Cinnamon Club. Having set-up in the old Westminster Library, a good double-take is needed before heading into this wonderful cocktail bar (downstairs) and Indian restaurant (upstairs). Whether you’re eating or just drinking, their Martinis and Bellinis are first rate – we really can’t recommend this more.

Browns, Leicester Square
This St Martins Lane staple may not be widely known for its cocktails, but its great bar area and knowledgeable staff make it a smart decision for those in the middle of town. Expect it to be busy with theatre goers before and after performances, but otherwise this is a surprisingly good place to unwind with a great cocktail in plush surroundings. Alastair from Brondesbury is of a similar inclination, “Lovely grand piano, hanging chandeliers and wide marble floors makes this an impressive setting”

The Great Eastern Dining Room, Old Street
This East end hangout seems to have been shaken up (and possibly stirred) recently. The cocktail list has changed for the better, bar staff clearly know how to mix a great drink and the ambience is first rate. Compared with Shoreditch’s super-cool hostelries, The Great Eastern brings a distinct air of class to the area.

Café Pacifico, Covent Garden
This so-so Mexican restaurant in Covent Garden is the home of London’s finest frozen Margarita. It may not be a place for relaxing post-work drinks, but if you can deal with Pacifico’s frantic hubbub, you will be rewarded with the best way to beat London’s stifling heat.
