Lord Tebbit: Some Poverty Is Self Inflicted
Tuesday 20th May 2014
Lord Tebbit has told LBC he believes there is an element of poverty that is self-inflicted.
The Conservative peer had previously accused people of using food banks for basics so they could spend their money on junk.
Lord Tebbit has since visited a food-bank run by the Trussell trust but, despite the experience, stlll believes there are jobs out there people could take instead of relying on handouts.
"There's a great deal of difficulty in getting people to take jobs as carers," he told LBC's James O'Brien.
"There are also a lot of people there, young people, who have been let down by the education system, let down by their families and who were just drifting and were NEETs when there are jobs available."
