Luton South

Labour logo Luton South is a true bellwether seat. It swings with the Government - and has done so in every election since the Second World War. Between 1979 and 1997 Graham Bright represented the constituency for the Conservative Party.  Since 1997 the seat has been held by Labour.

The sitting MP, Margaret Moran, announced she was stepping down after being criticised for the Daily Telegraph for claiming £22,000 in expenses to treat dry rot in her second home. The TV personality Esther Rantzen had declared her intention to challenge Moran as an independent candidate.
