Man Accused Of Walking Into Standard With Eight Flares

A man accused of walking into Stansted Airport with eight explosive flares has appeared in court.


22-year-old Andreas Pierides from north London is charged under the Terror Act of possessing an electronic version of terrorist manual the Anarchists Cookbook Handbook.

It is alleged that he walked into the airport on 15th May with eight personal distress signal miniflares "without lawful authority or reasonable excuse".

Pierides, of Lullington Garth, north London is also accused of a second charge of having a dangerous article in an airport on the same date, contrary to the Aviation Security Act of 1982.

A provisional trial date has been set for 1st December.

A plea and case management hearing will take place on August 22.
