Man Arrested After Supermarket Scissor Attack

A man has been arrested after attempting to stab officers and supermarket staff with a pair of scissors.
Plain clothes officers were in The Cut, near Waterloo Station, at around 6.30pm yesterday (Monday 25th August) when they came across an attempted robbery in Sainsbury's.
A man was threatening staff with scissors and then attempted to stab a security guard who had tried to intervene. When officers joined in he then also tried to stab them.
The suspect fled the scene and, after another attempt to stab an officer, CS spary was used. The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and robbery.
He is currently in custody at a south London police station.
No officers or members of the public were injured during the incident.
