Man Jailed For Two Years Following Bus Assaults

Wednesday 6th August 2014

A man found guilty of committing eight sexual assaults on buses in Wandsworth and Waltham Forest has been jailed for two years.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard how Dean Forte, 33, systematically targeted and sexually assaulted eight women over the course of three days last December.

In each of the incidents, Forte sat beside his victims before touching their thighs; the youngest victim was just 12 years of age. Forte committed five of the assaults on 11 December and a further three on the 14 December 2013.

Police were able to identify Forte after victims supplied identical descriptions following their individual assaults. On 14 December, police responded to an incident on a Chingford bus where the man involved matched the description from the 11 December incidents. Police arrested Forte and he was charged on 16 December.

Superintendent Rob Revill, from the Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: "This sentence highlights our commitment to tackling sexual offences on London's buses. We take all reports of sexual offences on buses seriously and are committed to bringing offenders to justice.

Forte has been placed on a sexual offenders register for 10 years and will be barred from having contact with children under 16 following is two years of jail time.
