Marchioness Remembered: Service 25 Years On
Wednesday 20th August 2014
A service will take place in London to remember the 25th anniversery of the Marchioness disaster in which 51 people died.
The riverboat, which was packed with partygoers, collided with a dredger on the River Thames and sank in 1989.
Southwark Cathedral will host a lunchtime Eucharist, when Linda Hunt, who lost her daughter Julie in the tragedy, will read out the names of the dead.
Among those who died was Francesca Dallaglio, the 19-year-old sister of former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio.
Another victim was merchant banker Antonio de Vasconcellos, whose was celebrating his 26th birthday on the Marchioness.
