Monday 14th July 2014

Scotland Yard has confirmed the Met Police's internal watchdog is investigating a complaint surrounding three officers and their conduct while looking into claims that Arsenal footballer Mesut Ozil struck a photographer in his car earlier this year.

The day after the alleged collision, three officers involved in the inquiry were pictured in the player's private box at the Emirates Stadium for Arsenal's 4-1 win over Sunderland.

The following month, it was decided no further action would be taken against the German star.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission are investigating the complaint.

A Met Police statement read: "On Friday, 21 February, police attended Sheldon Avenue, N6 where a member of the public reported he had been in collision with a vehicle and had sustained minor injuries.

"Following a review of the evidence by the Met Prosecutions, Traffic Evidential Review and Case Management Services, which found no independent evidence, a decision to take no further action was made on 28 March. Both parties were advised."
